Getting the Documents Right Before Arrival

Many clearance snags with destination Customs or a country's other government agencies trace back to documents that were not completed properly. Under EXW or FCA terms, the FPPI agent can provide a scanned draft of the documents for review by the foreign buyer and/or their Customs broker before anything is finalized.

What can be reviewed in advance

• The Master Bill of Lading can be reviewed for possible modification before it is sent to the steamship line.
• How the goods are classified and valued for US export declaration purposes can be shared with the Customs broker to sync the data, potentially saving clerical input time for both providers. Think of the time saved when classification codes are already in your entry clerk's hands.
• The consolidated commercial invoice and packing list detail, along with ancillary clearance documents, can be reviewed for the format required by the destination Customs.
• The breakdown of charges per the applied Incoterms can be formatted for optimal Customs clearance.
